Walla Walla will celebrate its 150th Anniversary (sesquicentennial) in 2019 and planning is well underway to ensure this exciting milestone is celebrated in style. For those who can remember any of the previous celebrations (90th, 100th, and 125th) this one also promises not to disappoint.
The major weekend of celebrations will take place from 25-28 January 2019. These celebrations will include a range of entertainment, the Greater Hume Council Australia Day event, German style food and beer, thanksgiving celebration, community picnic lunch, a street parade and much more. A Trek re-run is also being organised to follow in the footsteps of the original trek journey that the early settlers travelled in 1868.
This will be a self-drive event from Ebenezer in South Australia to Walla Walla and will take place from 7 to 12 October 2018. This event will be one of the highlights of the anniversary and promises to be an interesting tour for those who are able to come along for the ride. A book is being produced which will be a pictorial recollection of the journey our town has been on for the last 150 years and will be ready for sale by the end of 2018.
