Holiday and Caravan Parks

From busy holiday resorts with cabins, pools and playgrounds all the way through to primitive campsites with the odd power point, towns and villages in the Greater Hume have great camping options for all budgets.

Town and Country

Head north from the Murray and get close to nature – and to the natural friendliness of the locals – at any number of diverse camping locations. Experience small-town NSW in comfortable caravans and cosy cabins on the beautiful Billabong Creek in the heart of Culcairn. Maybe pitch a tent on the grassy banks, and enjoy the convenience of a short stroll to the shops. Just 30 minutes’ drive west, and you’ll find a larger park with similar amenities in the regional centre of Holbrook. If a pool is on your essentials list, this is the place for you.

With fewer facilities (and a lower price tag), many adventurous campers love discovering smaller towns by staying at ‘primitive’ camp sites. Both powered and unpowered sites are readily available in Henty (head for the Showgrounds), sleepy Burrumbuttock (behind the hall), Walla Walla Primative Camping (adjacent to the sportsground) and more.

On the Murray

To the south, of course, camping and caravanning is centred on the Murray River. Take the Wymah Road from Lake Hume and you’ll pass The Great Aussie Holiday Park (pool, bike track, tennis courts and more!), and the smaller, quieter and more personal Wymah Hideaway caravan and camping park, just next to the Wymah Ferry to Victoria.
